# What You'll Need:

→ Dry Ingredients

01 - 1 ½ cups whole wheat flour
02 - 2 tbsp coconut sugar or light brown sugar
03 - 2 tsp baking powder
04 - ½ tsp baking soda
05 - ½ tsp sea salt
06 - 1 ½ tsp ground turmeric
07 - ½ tsp ground ginger
08 - ½ tsp ground cinnamon
09 - ¼ tsp ground black pepper
10 - ¼ tsp ground cardamom

→ Wet Ingredients

11 - 1 ¼ cups unsweetened almond milk
12 - 2 large eggs
13 - ¼ cup melted coconut oil
14 - 1 tsp vanilla extract
15 - Zest of 1 small orange

→ Optional Toppings

16 - Greek yogurt or coconut yogurt
17 - Fresh berries
18 - Sliced banana
19 - Honey or maple syrup
20 - Chopped nuts or seeds

# Directions:

01 - Preheat your waffle iron according to manufacturer's instructions and lightly grease with coconut oil.
02 - In a large bowl, whisk together flour, coconut sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, and cardamom until thoroughly blended.
03 - In a separate bowl, whisk together almond milk, eggs, melted coconut oil, vanilla extract, and orange zest until smooth and emulsified.
04 - Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined; do not overmix. The batter should be thick but pourable—add a splash more milk if needed.
05 - Ladle the batter into the preheated waffle iron (about ½ to ¾ cup per waffle, depending on your iron). Cook according to your waffle iron's instructions, usually 4–5 minutes, until golden and crisp.
06 - Remove waffles and keep warm. Repeat with remaining batter. Serve hot, topped with yogurt, fresh fruit, a drizzle of honey or syrup, and nuts or seeds as desired.

# Expert Suggestions:

  • The whole wheat flour gives these waffles a nutty depth that white flour just cant match
  • Black pepper isnt just here for flavor—it actually helps your body absorb turmerics benefits
  • These freeze beautifully so you can batch cook breakfast for the whole week
02 -
  • The batter will look quite thick and that vibrant yellow color might surprise you—its completely normal
  • If your waffles are sticking, your iron might need more preheating or a bit more oil between batches
  • Overmixing is the enemy of fluffy waffles, so stop stirring as soon as the flour disappears
03 -
  • Room temperature ingredients create a smoother batter and more even cooking
  • If the batter seems too thick after resting, add almond milk one tablespoon at a time
  • The waffles are done when they stop steaming heavily and feel firm to the touch
